Welcome to The Process
Welcome to The Process of self-governance, the 234 year old experiment developed in America and which is, perhaps, the most uniquely American characteristic. Welcome to The Process that allows everyone to criticize The System. Welcome to The Process that has created American Exceptionalism, where Liberty has made ours the most envied nation on the planet.
The Process is how the Republic continues; the Governed select Those-Who-Will-Govern in a free, uncensored, and sometimes combative exchange of ideas. The Process is, in part, a negotiation where candidates present themselves, their ideas and their values to the electorate who signs the contract with their vote. The Process encourages the governed to challenge the ideas of those governing; a responsibility that should be neither ignored nor abused.
The Process is not without flaws; it was created by people and it is administered by people. The Process allows people with courage to enter an arena where all their flaws become public and it allows people in the stands to criticize those in the arena. The Process is fraught with both dissension and agreement as we define the role of government and defend the freedom we cherish.
Over the last several weeks, we have seen The Process in action where people in the arena have proven they are not perfect and people in the stands have criticized their performance. Some have said that The Process is flawed while others have tried to circumvent the rules. Welcome to The Process.
We have a Primary Election in three weeks, another milestone in The Process, where some of our candidates will prevail and others will be defeated. We must rally to the side of the winners for the final part of The Process; the race to the General Election. During this part of The Process we will hold up our values for comparison with the values of others - believing that our values must prevail for the good of our County, State and Country.
The Process is rarely perfect but it continues despite its imperfection. It is a privilege to be part of The Process and it is a privilege we share. Regardless of the outcome of The Primary, we must remain a vigorous part of The Process and promote our Republican principles for Victory in November.
