Do you live in a Municipality?

Residents of Jefferson County live in unincorporated Jeffco or in a municipality.  To see if you live in a municipality, and if so what district within in the municipality, use this handy Address Wizard (opens in new window).

We all live in (and pay for) Special Districts too.

You also live in a few Special Districts, such as a Rapid Transit District (RTD), water district, fire protection district, and park district.  Each has publicly elected officials, and some are voted on in a "coordinated election" ballot issued by Jefferson County.  A portion of your property taxes goes to these entities usually (not always).  To see YOUR Special Districts and see how much of your property taxes goes to them, check the 'mill levy' near the bottom of your Jeffco property record (opens in new window).
