Dahlkemper, Leslie (Democrat) Running for Jeffco School Board
Lesley Dahlkemper is the president of Schoolhouse Communication consulting firm whose clients are educators.
This is most likely a political stepping stone for Dahlkemper. Her husband, former Democrat state senator Mike Feeley, practices law in the area of public policy. He is currently part of the team challenging TABOR in the courts, claiming the state should be able to tax its citizens without asking them first.
Dahlkemper has the support of the Teachers Union (JCEA). According to their September newsletter sent to teachers, the JCEA are also using completely unfounded scare tactics to rally volunteers and votes. Here is an excerpt:
“Through strong membership and collective action we can restore sanity to the Jeffco school board. If the extremists successfully take over the school board, all indications are that they intend to gut your contract, implement Douglas County style vouchers, and take away your ability to advocate for quality teaching and learning conditions. Join together with other JCEA members by volunteering at least four hours over the next few months.”
If you're looking for someone whose business is consulting in the education arena, who supports raising taxes to put more money into Jeffco's billion dollar budget, and who is supported by the teachers' union, she's your candidate.
In case you doubt her political idealogy, below is a list of her campaign contributions (taken from Newsmeat.com):
